Rome
I've been to Rome twice. Once where I pretty much hated it (circumstances and timings can definitely influence how you feel about a place) and once where I absolutely loved it! Rome really is like something out of the movies you watch as a child and it is a city full of excitement and life. Nightlife wise I'm not really sure there is much but in a capital city I'm sure I must be wrong.
Where to stay:
- Pick wisely I stayed near the Terminal Station the first time I was here and I think that was a big contribution to my dislike of Rome first time round.
- Second time we stayed in Baylon suites (hard to find at first) but in a lovely neighborhood for a good price and near to everywhere you could want. We had a discount voucher from booking.com which made it very affordable but it was such a great place to stay:

- Also heard Yellowsquare Rome is good and social. (think they have a nightclub downstairs).
What to do:
Obviously so many main sites:
- Roman Forum (actually so cool defo go inside), Colosseum (Can get this with a package deal from the Roman Forum but otherwise I'd say apart from the history the view from outside is spectacular enough!), Trevi fountain and the Pantheon. Also If you are 18 or under the roman forum and the colosseum are very cheap so if you are young definitely do these!!
- Vatican, I never made it here but definitely want to at some point! It's quite far out of the city though.
- 100% go to The royal bar, It's opposite the Colosseum so you can soak in the amazing views with a drink in hand.
- Just wonder and get lost. We would type in one of the main sites from our hotel so we knew the general direction and just walk roughly towards it and get lost in the streets of Rome!
- Aperitivo! Google the best ones as we went to some horrendous ones but some are incredible value. You basically get free food with drinks you buy and you can bargain down a good deal at the right time of day (definitely recommend googling to find the best ones so you don't waste time or money).
- Eat gelato!! They often let you try flavours for free before buying it too!
- Key hole hill, definitely worth doing if you have the time. There are gardens that are so peaceful with an amazing view of Rome. We definitely should of Brought a picnic and sat here for a couple hours. There is also this door with a key hole that people queue up to take pictures of as you have a view of the Vatican through a key hole. I preferred the gardens but as you're already there might as well! (gardens and key hole photos on the right).
Address:
Piazza dei Cavalieri di Malta
Where to eat: REMEMBER LOTS OF PLACES CHARGE VAT ON TOP OF MEALS HERE!!!
- Cave Canem trattoria, was really good value and near our hotel
- Pizzeria ristorante imperiale (near the Forum, really good value pizza!!)
- We just kind of made it up as we went along so not many suggestions for great eats sorry!
